Two Detentions in the Aftermath of Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
The assault resulted in the partial closure of the CTA tunnel and the T3 car park.

Two more people are now in custody in connection with a theft at London's Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals sustained injuries by what is thought to be pepper spray, as stated by police.

A 24-year-old man, was arrested in the Lambeth area for suspected robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, the force said.

The arrests come after a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the attack, two women had stolen from them their luggage after getting out of a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was among the injured in the event. Five people were taken to the hospital for medical care and have since been discharged.

Officers detained a 31-year-old man for suspected theft and assault near the location. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Police were alerted at about 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding several individuals hurt by a noxious substance thought to be pepper spray.

The assault - which police said was a standalone incident and not being treated as terrorism - resulted in train delays and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a short time.
